  • In Memory Of The Great Artist

    –––––––

    Oct 27

I like it. Fits us better. We don’t even have to like each other and so no messy emotional entanglement. […] Better save the mental resources to experience great arts and thoughts and literature, than start trench warfare with your sex partner every week or so. Who wants to live like that?

Imagine a powerful suitor courting a young lady for months, only to have his advances meet resistance and indecision. With his clumsy attempts at courtship going nowhere, he impulsively kidnaps the girl and promptly announces an engagement. His entourage rejoices at the impending nuptials.

I don’t much believe in romance as a genre. We are more in the horror psychological thriller territory. Or straight up horror (that TikTok meme he sent me one time to get me to talk to him again).

Also got two personal complimentary knickknacks from the “artist” for all my item purchases […] The second freebie the assistant laid out for me was a set of postcards featuring the artist’s past repertoire. I immediately zeroed in on the one that featured the little red riding hood offering a white flower to a looming black wolf. Of course, Anton is not a “Fuchs” (bolded large letters I painted last week on a sketch pad which should still be visible to the overhead camera etc). He’s a “Wolf”. This postcard also fronted the deck before she splayed them out for me to choose. Upon choosing she said, “Yes, this one seems to fit you better”.

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt and his delegation, including the Director of Bang Rak District, facilitated Thai artists in restoring street art by a Spanish artist on Charoen Krung Soi 30, which was vandalized with spray paint by unidentified individuals on September 27.

During the restoration work on October 8, French Ambassador to Thailand Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, who leads the “Krung Thep Creative Streets” project in collaboration with several European embassies, observed the process. The project brought together 15 international artists to create street art throughout Bangkok.

You know because you’ve got such a shitty personality […], I’m beginning to think the only way I can tolerate your presence is because of the money – the hefty payday so to say. […] Maybe cheaper for us to arrange a sugar relationship. […] My fee will be hefty though which I’m sure you can afford but cheaper than a marriage you will agree. I can start with the bookkeeping as soon as you land.

Email to Henry, July 25th, 2025:

Do you know of this epic Thai poetry called Khun Chang Khun Paen? We learned some verses in middle school, but the male characters all too obscene for the story to be taught in depth to school children […]. Here is a modern reimagination – a televised lakorn reworked from the point of view of Wanthong […] This short scene is before she is led to her execution… and you can clearly see who is more tormented by the thought of her death: https://youtu.be/RF-NkbLGbig?si=9Lo8-2nGltMh3xSM&t=3897 (timepoint around 1:05:00)

Nevertheless, people consider it high tragedy but it is obviously a form of high farce. To prefer the gallows over having to choose between two equally awful men is a feminist comedy anyway you cut it. Too bad there’s not much secondhand resources available in English for international audience.

But ChatGPT has a good summary:

Explain Khun Chang Khun Paen story – Thai epic poem
